Yuasa Battery Maintenance & Technical ManualYUASA 'Liquifix' Valve Regulated Lead Acid battery
All YUASA YT series 'Liquifix' batteries use AGM technology which consists of an Absorbent Glass-fibre Matting between the lead plates inside the battery. The AGM material absorbs the electrolyte so the battery can be mounted on its side if necessary and it also allows higher discharge rates without causing internal damage to the battery. This kind of battery is often referred to as a “Gel” battery because the electrolyte appears to be solid. They are also known as “Dry” or “Sealed” batteries.
There is no vent valve as in regular acid batteries because the gas generated is recombined during the recharge cycle. Another reason why this type of battery can be mounted at an angle.
COURIER AND RETURNS INFORMATION
The price of the battery includes delivery by Courier. We only deliver to UK Mainland addresses. We cannot deliver motorcycle batteries to UK islands such as Isle of Man, Isle of Wight etc, or Northern Ireland, Eire, Europe & Rest of World.
We aim to provide a next working day courier delivery service on those orders received by 13:30hrs Mon-Fri, however, this is not a guaranteed next working day delivery service and in some cases may take two working days to complete delivery especially in the Scottish Highlands.
The courier requires a signature on delivery. If no one is available at the delivery address to sign for the battery then a card will be left advising of the next delivery attempt or where the battery can be collected.
If you receive your motorcycle battery and subsequently decide that you do not want it then you will be liable for the cost of returning the battery to us. We will provide a refund on returned batteries if they are received in a re-saleable condition, undamaged and complete with all packaging and contents. Please contact us before you return your unwanted motorcycle battery for returns information.
If you have added the acid to the battery then you have acknowledged use and acceptance of the product and it cannot be returned to us.
Please double-check that the battery you are ordering is the correct battery for your application.
HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY MOTORCYCLE BATTERY?
Good battery maintenance should include the following:
1. Always keep the acid level between lower and upper lines on front side of the container (conventional type batteries).
2. Do not let the battery stand in a discharged condition. Store batteries fully charged.
3. Charge battery every 4 weeks if not used regularly.
4. When motorcycle is stored over 30 days, plug in an automatic battery charger to maintain a proper storage charge.
5. Keep battery top clean, dry and free of dirt.
6. Clean battery terminals to prevent corrosion, smear with petroleum jelly or Vaseline.
7. Inspect vent tube, ensuring that it is not bent, twisted or clogged (conventional type batteries).
8. Protect the battery from strong impacts or shocks.
9. Be aware of off-ignition drain, e.g., alarms, short circuits, these will drain a fully charged battery. Attach a trickle charger if an alarm is regularly used.
Always make sure that you have the right battery for your application. Having additional electrical devices such as alarms or upgraded lighting systems will consume more battery power and an uprated battery may be required rather than the standard.
