This Hybrio version of the PP3 battery will retain its charge for months, not losing its charge like ordinary rechargeable batteries that can go flat after a few weeks storage. The Hybrio PP3 9 volt battery will retain a full charge for months, losing only 30% of its charge after 12 months storage, making it ideal for applications where it may remain unused for several days, weeks or even months.

This battery is not suitable for smoke alarms: Smoke alarms should use alkaline or lithium batteries as the circuitry in the alarm is designed to detect the more gradual decline in voltage as the battery loses power rather than sudden drop in voltage seen with rechargeable batteries as they reach the point for recharging.
